Whatever you may think of her or her music, it can’t be denied that Lady Gaga is something of a style icon, constantly pushing the boundaries of fashion. She anticipates and capitalises on current trends, often giving them her own unique twist. And the way she styles her hair is no exception. Her hair style changes as much as her outfits and it can be difficult to keep up. But here is a list of my five favourite hairstyles of Lady Gaga; ones that can, and have been worn by ordinary folk as well as outrageously dressed pop stars.
1. The Blunt Fringe
Back in 2009, the era of ‘Just Dance’ and ‘Pokerface’ Lady Gaga was rocking this cool blunt fringe; a style that shows no sign of dying out anytime soon. Blunt fringes are great for shortening a long face and drawing attention to the eyes. Wear yours low like Lady Gaga so it skims the eyes for maximum impact.
2. The Monochrome
Although the Cruella D’Ville look has not been adopted by the masses as yet, I love Lady Gaga’s monochrome bob and with this season’s obsession with crazy colour, surely it’s only a matter of time? And with cool chicks like journalist Caitlin Moran rocking the black and white look, this is certainly a look that could be adopted by many, if they’re brave enough!
3. The Pastel Hue
Pastel hues in blonde hair are BIG news right now and Lady Gaga capitalises on this trend to great effect, adding a wash of pretty pink to her platinum locks. Other colours you could try are lavender, peach, or maybe even mint or blue; the sky’s the limit!
4. The Barcoding Effect
And talking of crazy colour, here is one of Lady Gaga’s more typically outrageous hairdos and yet it’s STILL bang on trend; check out the barcoding effect in the fringe – this is a look that’s going to be big for 2013. Of course, you don’t have to go for bright colours like turquoise in your hair; if you fancy a lift you could go for something more subtle like amber or reddish hues for dark hair or pastels for fairer hair.
The Bardot
5. Volume
Just recently Lady Gaga has gone all Lana Del Ray on us with this volumous retro ‘do, and it looks amazing on her. The chestnut hue is classy and understated and looks stylish with those loose curls; definitely a winner!
